About the founder

The Bespoke Gift Company was the brainchild of busy mum-of-two Bianca Best, who perceived a gap in the market for well-crafted personalised presents with a poetic edge.

Bianca decided to quit the big smoke and relentless 14-hour days as an account manager with a Soho advertising agency when her son Ashley was born. Harbouring a secret dream to write creatively, parenthood provided her with the opportunity to freelance in this field from home. But it was while nursing her newborn baby girl Scarlett a few years later that Bianca really got her creative juices flowing.

Wanting to commemorate her 10-year wedding anniversary to her husband in a heartfelt yet different way, she penned a poem entitled “A Decade to Remember”, arranged photos around the poem, framed it and presented the gift to him on their anniversary. The piece took pride on their wall for visitors, friends and family to see - everyone asked where in the world she had ordered and bought it, and whether they could buy something similar too.

Bianca saw that this was a marketable commodity. With the gift marketplace saturated with mass-produced generic products, Bianca wanted to rehabilitate the act of gift giving by putting the personal back into the personalised, and inject real thought and emotion into the process minus the effort and painstaking indecision that often confronts consumers when buying something unusual for a loved one. The philosophy upon which The Bespoke Gift Company is based was thus born, and has given flesh and bones to a once unrealised dream.

Bianca says: “The most wonderful thing about the business has been the fact that its enabled me to work from home around my children, without childcare. I used to write poems in between nap times, design montages every evening, and even take the kids to meetings with me!

“It’s wonderful not feeling guilty about being a working mother, and I feel very proud to be running a profitable, worthwhile business that essentially brings a smile to people’s faces. More especially, it’s an exciting business that has grown from cottage industry to a serious business venture, without compromising on quality time with my family – they’re the real inspiration behind this dream afterall.”
